Looking towards the 2008/2009 season, industry forecasters at the Color Association of the United States (CAUS) have taken a voyage around the world to three distinct and culturally rich geographic locations, developing palettes that blend harmoniously to create warm and dramatic interior spaces. Gone are the bland neutrals from seasons past. In 2008/2009, an abundance of rich, tinted neutrals, earth tones, saturated nature-inspired hues and adventurous regional colour combinations deliver a breath of fresh air. Common threads throughout all three palettes include rich brights, blackened hues, grey tones, yellowy greens and understated textures such as linen and woven grass.

NEW ENGLAND SHORES
Highlighting the East Coast’s cosy weathered greys, timeworn woods, ocean blues and mossy greens, with a dash of barn red and lobster pink, this palette evokes a feeling of classic and understated coastal charm. It’s the perfect colour story for a traditional and subdued interior, and for the conservative consumer looking for timeless design.

INDIAN MARKET
A lively, vibrant selection of colours, inspired by sari fabrics, exotic spices, animal prints and traditional Indian images. Saturated red, pink and yellow jewel tones, punctuated with earthy browns and olive green, result in succulent combinations which are at once playful and practical. Translucent, shimmery and metallic gold finishes add elegance to this luscious palette.

FAR EAST

This palette builds on the popularity of brown, purple and silver with the addition of bold red, serene blue, cool jade and fresh bamboo green. Patina bronze and gold, merged with deep plum and indigo, form its core. Overall, it’s a trans-seasonal, confident and mature palette. Asian-influenced designs are ideal matches, but the palette will complement a myriad of styles.
